SAN DIEGO/SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -Ready to start conference play, the University of San Francisco women's soccer team (4-4, 0-0 WCC) will head to Southern California to face San Diego (2-4-3) on Wednesday night before returning home to the Bay Area to host #12Santa Clara (6-2-1) on Saturday night in the first week of West Coast Conference action.

DONS AT A GLANCE:
- Bouncing back from back-to-back losses to begin a three-game home stand, San Franciscogot back in the win column this past Thursday as the Donstookdown San Jose State in a 2-1 victory. Kate Zimmerman was the star for San Francisco in the winas the freshman scored her first two collegiate goals against the Spartans, including the eventual game-winner.
- Zimmerman's brace earned her WCC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday, Sept. 23 as the awardmarksthe first Player of the Week award for the green and gold of the season.
- Heading into conference action, Kaitlyn Sasadeusz remains in thetop10 in the WCC in game-winning goals (T-2nd, two),total shots (7th, 21) andtotal points (T-9th, seven).
- In Wednesday night's match against San Diego, San Franciscowill play away from home for just the second time this season, having won its only road game of the season so far against UC Irvine on Aug. 29.
SCOUTING THE TOREROS:
- Starting off the season without a win through its first seven matches (0-4-3), San Diego has built some momentum heading into conference play with back-to-back wins in its final two games of nonconference action, shutting out UC Riverside and CSU Northridge in 1-0 and 2-0 victories, respectively.
- Despite their record, Ilise Medrano has been one of the WCC's best goalkeepers this season, tied for first in the conference in both total saves (37) and total shutouts (three).
- Wednesday's match at Torero Stadium will be USD's first home game in nearly four weeks, as San Diego has played its last five contests on the road. The Toreros will host the Dons looking for their first home win of the season.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS:
- Following a 6-1 start to its campaign, Santa Clara heads into WCC play seeking its first win in three weeks, having lost to Stanford, 1-0, and tying with Harvard, 2-2, in the Broncos' last two matches of nonconference play.
- Atop the stat sheet for the Broncos are sophomore Kennedy Schoennauer and redshirt senior Sally Menti. Schoennauer ranks top-five in the league in total shots (5th, 26), shots on goal (2nd, 13), goals (2nd, six), and total points (3rd, 12). Menti leads the conference in total assists (four), as well as ranking eighth in the WCC in total shots (19).
- As a squad, the Broncos will begin conference play leading all WCC teams in both total shots (147) and shots on goal (66), along with ranking second in the league in total goals (18) and total assists (13).
- The Dons will be welcoming a familiar face back to the Hilltop on Saturday, as graduate student Marissa Vasquez will play her first game at Negoesco Stadium as an opponent after playing her first four years donning the green and gold. Vasquez earned WCC Midfielder of the Year and First Team All-WCC honors last season with USF. So far this season, Vasquez has tallied two goals and one assist, making six starts in the Broncos' first nine games of the campaign.
SERIES HISTORY:
- San Francisco and San Diego will face off for the 32nd time in program history, with the Toreros holding a 21-9-1 all-time series lead. In the last four meetings, the green and gold hold a 3-0-1 record against USD, as the Toreros have not picked up a victory over the Dons since the 2018 season.
- Saturday night's match-up between USF and Santa Clara will mark the two teams' 44th all-time meeting, with the Broncos leading the all-time series 38-4-1. Three of those four Dons wins have come in the last three seasons, with USF having won the last two meetings, both being shutout victories last season.
