Ladybug and Daddy Longlegs
The perfect maternity costume? You bet, especially because it's so comfortable. But you don't have to be expecting to wear this ultra-adorable (and warm!) costume.
For the ladybug:
- Cut a red poncho up the middle and curve the cut-out at the bottom to make the 2 sides of the poncho look like ladybug "wings"
- From a black cape or fabric, cut out an even amount of the same size circles to create black "spots."
- Hot glue the circles onto the poncho, being sure to have the same amount on each "wing".
- Paint 2 foam balls black and let dry completely.
- Fold a black pipe cleaner in half. Attach 1 of the foam balls to one black pipe cleaners by pushing the pipe cleaners into the foam ball until it feels secure.
- Repeat with the other painted foam ball.
- Fold down the other ends of the pipe cleaner about a half inch and attach to the black headband evenly spaced with hot glue to create antennae.
For the daddy longlegs:
- Attach 3 of the giant pipe cleaners on one side of the umbrella with a good amount of hot glue.
- Repeat by attaching the other 3 giant pipe cleaners to the other side of the umbrella, being sure to leave more room in the front to make a face.
- Cut out 2 circles about 7.5cm wide out of the white foam paper.
- Cut out 2 circles about 5cm wide out of the black foam paper.
- Hot glue the black circles to the white circles to create eyes.
- Attach the eyes evenly to the front of the umbrella using hot glue.
- Cut out two triangles about 12cm tall out of the black foam paper to create "fangs."
- Hot glue the two triangles to the front of the umbrella a little closer together than the eyes to create fangs to emphasize the spider look.
Victoria and David Beckham
Posh and Becks are a classic couple and this is a classic outfit choice. Plus, if you already own a little black dress and a white collared shirt, you're halfway there to completing the look (just iron-on some red letters if you don't want to buy a Beckham jersey).
